Event features Olympic and World Championship competitors and judges
The competition will be uniquely judged to avoid any bias, that is, the judges will not see the figures as they are skated. The judges will rank the figures after the skaters have completed the required figures and left the rink. Competitors will vie for the World title and a new world ranking. New to this year’s championship are the special figures and creative figures, which have not been internationally contested since 1908.
This year's World Figure Championship (WFC) will feature an incredible amount of former Olympic and World Champions, versed in the figures discipline, to judge the event. Confirmed 2016 WFC judges include Olympic, World & Canadian Champion Barbara Wagner, Olympic & World Champion Trixi Schuba, Olympic Silver Medalist & 2-time World Champion Tim Wood, Olympic Bronze Medalist & World Champion Donald Jackson, Olympic Bronze Medalist & 2-time World Medalist Janet Lynn, US Champion, 2-time World Bronze Medalist & Olympian Gary Visconti, US Champion, Olympic & World Competitor Tommy Litz, and Olympic & World Coach Slavka Kohout Button.
Other notable champions are invited to judge the 2016 WFC and upon confirmation they will be announced.
The World Figure Championship Organizing Team (WFCOT) managed by Peak Edge Performance, Inc. and members of the World Figure Sport Organization (WFSO) will automatically enroll all judges, skaters and coaches as members of the WFSO, so all can participate in this exciting event!
The World Figure Championship & Figure Festival is sanctioned/endorsed by the World Figure Sport Organization (WFSO) #2016WFC&FF. The WFSO is the world organization for the sport discipline of Figures in ice skating.
